The Nellie Tayloe Ross Banquet is a state party tradition. Held each year during the legislative session, the dinner is a reminder of the party’s heritage and leadership on the issues of critical importance to Wyoming families.

Nellie Tayloe Ross, the event’s namesake, was the nation’s first woman governor. Elected to complete the unexpired term of her late husband in 1924, Ross became a strong leader in her own right. She was a passionate advocate for women, children, farmers and miners. After leaving the governor’s office, Ross continued to dedicate her time and energy to progressive reforms and public service. A passionate advocate for women’s involvement in politics, she served as vice-chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Later, Franklin Roosevelt appointed Ross to serve as Director of the United States Mint, a position that she held from 1933 through 1952.

The 2005 Nellie Tayloe Ross Banquet will be held in the American Room at the Little America Hotel. A social hour will precede the banquet at 6 PM. Dinner will be served at 7 PM. To make reservations for this event, please contact the state party office at 800-729-3367. Tickets are $50 per person.
