The 2007 Jefferson-Jackson Dinner and Banquet is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Rock Springs Holiday Inn (1675 Sunset Drive). Among the featured guests will be Gov. Dave Freudenthal, and our keynote speaker this year is Andrew Romanoff, the Democratic speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives.

The theme of this year's gathering is "A Salute to Labor." As part of the evening's program, the Wyoming Democratic Party will honor Kim Floyd, executive director of the Wyoming AFL-CIO, with the Party Builder of the Year Award.

NEW THIS YEAR: Gov. Freudenthal and Speaker Romanoff will attend a private reception prior to the dinner. Tickets for this exclusive event, which begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, are $100 a person.

You can call us to reserve your tickets for the events at 800-729-3367 or register at the top of this page.

The state party has reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn for $99 a piece. For further information or to reserve a room, contact the hotel at 307-382-9200.

The dinner itself will begin at 7 p.m., following a no-host cocktail hour at 6 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $75 per person, or you and your group may prefer one of our options for a table of eight:

* $1,500 for a Gold Table

* $1,000 for a Silver Table

* $600 for a Bronze Table

After the dinner, there will be an auction of political memorabilia, books, posters, etc., and Wyoming Democratic Party Chairman John Millin will deliver the Party Builder of the Year Award to Kim Floyd of the Wyoming AFL-CIO.

Also new this year: We will have a Sunday morning breakfast event featuring several of our own legislators, who will share their insight on Wyoming state politics. The breakfast begins at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, and tickets are $30 per person.

PACKAGE DEAL: Anyone can attend all three events – the private reception, the dinner, and the legislative breakfast – for a package price of $175 per person.

As in past years, the Wyoming Democratic State Central Committee will also meet at the Holiday Inn during the afternoon before the dinner, beginning at 1 p.m. Central Committee members include our county party chairs, vice chairs, state committeemen and state committeewomen.

About Colorado House Speaker Andrew Romanoff

Andrew Romanoff is the first Democrat to serve as Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives since 1975. He represents House District 6, covering east Denver and Glendale.

The Denver Post has described Speaker Romanoff as one of Colorado's most successful legislators. Over the past six years, no one in Colorado has worked harder to bridge the political divide. In 2005, Speaker Romanoff teamed with then-Gov. Bill Owens to craft Referendum C, the Colorado Economic Recovery Plan, and helped build the broadest coalition in state history to pass it.

In 2006, Speaker Romanoff was honored as one of the most outstanding legislative leaders in America. The William M. Bulger Award is presented annually by the State Legislative Leaders Foundation and the National Conference of State Legislatures to the "legislative leader who has worked to preserve and build public trust in the institution of the state legislature and whose career embodies the highest principles of leadership - integrity, compassion, vision and courage." Speaker Romanoff is the award's youngest recipient.

Speaker Romanoff was elected to the House in 2000 and reelected in 2002, 2004 and 2006. Before his election to the speakership, he served as the House Minority Leader. In 2004, Rep. Romanoff and his Democratic colleagues scored an historic victory, winning control of the House of Representatives for the first time since Watergate. The Democrats expanded their majority in 2006 and now hold 39 of the chamber's 65 seats. Rep. Romanoff was elected Speaker in 2005-2006 and again in 2007.
