Tim Swiggum was raised in a military family with nine siblings and graduated from Monroe High School in 1983 before serving three years in the military. After serving his country, Tim attended the University of Missouri-Columbia. Tim and his wife Karen were married in 1991. Karen has been teaching for over 32 years, the last seven years at Thorp High School. Their daughter, Rebecca is 14 and attends Owen-Withee Public Schools.
Since September 1993 Tim has been a small businessman, operating several restaurants. The most recent was the Blackhawk Country Inn in Owen, which Tim owned and operated from 1998 until 2006. Tim is in his third term as Mayor of the City of Owen. In his tenure, Tim has worked to engage the community so together they can make Owen a better place.
