1. Virginia Campaign Invasion
The Virginia Governor’s race is one of the hottest political battles in the country this fall, and OYD is making it possible for you to get in on the grassroots level! Democrat Tim Kaine is facing off against current Republican Attorney General Kilgore; Democrats won the Governor’s seat in 2001, and we will win it again with your help!

Save the Date for a VA Campaign Invasion October 14, 15 and 16. Volunteers will be provided training on the 14th to get you acclimated to campaigning Virginia-style, and the rest of the weekend will be full of grassroots activism. There will be plenty of time to meet other Young Dems from the region and country as well.

Housing and food will be provided, and we are working to ensure that transportation will be as well. If you’re interested, contact OYD Campaign Chair Lauren Goode at goode@ohioyd.org with “VA Invasion” in the subject line.

More details will be forthcoming as we receive them.

2. OYD Full-time Intern Needed!
The Ohio Young Democrats are seeking a uniquely qualified and self-motivated individual as the organization’s unpaid intern during the fall of 2005. The individual will be based out of OYD’s state headquarters at the Ohio Democratic Party offices in Columbus.

The intern will be expected to work between 15-20 per week, primarily out of the OYD offices, and to perform a number of essential duties to ensure that the organization is moving forward.

Interested individuals should submit a resume with four work and/or campaign-related references (preferably via email) to 1st VP Lauren Goode - goode@ohioyd.org. The application deadline is September 9, 2005. This position is a non-compensated position.

3. Columbus Crew Democrat Soccer Event*
The Ohio Democratic Party, OYD, and Democrats across the state have been invited to a special Columbus Crew party at their match on September 17th! The "party on the pitch" Ohio Democrat Event has been discounted for all Ohio Democrats to a ticket price of only $14! Where else can you see a major league sporting event for $14 (with seats anywhere close to the action)?

The Columbus Crew will play the Chicago Fire on Saturday, 9/17 at 7:30PM. The deadline to order tickets is Tuesday, 9/13, so act now if you would like to go! *Please Note: This event is being thrown solely by the Columbus Crew MLS soccer team. It is not an "official" OYD event, and is not "officially" sponsored by the Ohio Young Democrats. Though we encourage all soccer fans and sports enthusiasts attend in order to have a good time, no "official" OYD presence will be recorded at the event, nor will chapter members or leadership be required to attend. That said, however, we think it sounds like a great time, and wanted to make sure you knew of the opportunity!
