The Democratic Party is the oldest on-going political party in the world.

The origins of the Democratic Party can be traced to 1792, when philosophical differences between Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton fueled the emergence of two distinct political factions.
Prior to serving as president of the United States, Woodrow Wilson was named president of Princeton University in 1902.
Wilson's lasting legacy includes passage of the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, creating a system that still provides the framework for regulating the nation's banks, credit, and money supply today. He also was instrumental in helping pass the 19th Amendment in 1919, guaranteeing all women the right to vote.
FDR served the most years of any U.S. president, having been elected to four straight terms.
President Clinton left office with a 66% approval rating—the highest of any outgoing president since Franklin D. Roosevelt.

November 2006 Elections --
turn around not only in Ohio, but Erie County:
Governor Ted Strickland carried all 62 precincts within Erie County.
Thomas J. Paul is the first Democrat to win the Erie County Auditor's seat in 60 years.
With the election of Bill Monaghan and with Tom Ferrell, Democrats hold the majority on the Erie County Commission.
Tom Ferrell is elected President of the Erie County Commission.
