Student Field Trips
Touring
Annapolis is a historical and creative way to
learn about the one of the oldest state
capitals in the country. The Maryland State
House is the oldest State House in continuous
Legislative use in the United States! Senator
Miller and staff are pleased to meet with
students for hands on discussion and a tour of
the State House. If you would like to schedule
a tour for your students, please call us at
410-841-3700 or email
us.
A Personal
Invitation to Annapolis from Senator Miller:
Over the years, hundreds of
Southern Maryland and Prince George’s school
kids accepted my invitation to visit the
Maryland State House during the annual
Legislative Session (January - April). Each
Legislative Session, as many as 30 school
groups join me for a day in their State’s
Capital. According to the students, teachers
and parents who participated in the program
this year, it is an invaluable educational
opportunity. I encourage you to arrange a trip
for your school soon.
While in Annapolis, students:
- Attend a working session of the Maryland Senate.
- Receive an introduction as a class and school to the entire Senate.
- Receive a class photo taken with myself and other elected officials.
- Enjoy lunch on the State House’s historic grounds such as Lawyers’ Mall which features a monument to Maryland’s greatest civil rights advocate, US Supreme Court Justice, the Honorable Thurgood Marshall.
A day in historic Annapolis provides one
of the most educational field trips imaginable.
Through the years, I have marveled at increased
understanding of government and civic
responsibility this program has given to so
many young Marylanders.
Please encourage
all parents, teachers and administrators to
contact my office to arrange a tour
today.
Sincerely,
Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
