Chairman's Listening Tour: Chairmen's Breakfast Taos, NM

The Democratic Party of Taos County (DPTC) in conjunction with the Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) hosted a Chairmen’s Breakfast for Party members and local activists on Saturday May 26th, 2007.

“We wanted to take an opportunity to show appreciation for the great Democrats of Taos County who are the back bone of our New Mexico politics”, said newly-elected State Chairman Brian Colón.

New Mexico will host a Presidential Caucus on February 5th, 2008. The DPNM will be charged with organizing the statewide election and will need to rely on the volunteer efforts of each of the County Democratic Party organizations. “Taos County has always been influential in New Mexico presidential politics and has contributed substantially to turnout for the Democratic nominee for President”, said State Chairman Brian Colón.

Thomas Tafoya, current DPTC Chairman, said “I campaigned for County Chair on the basis of creating more inclusiveness in the party; this Chairmen’s breakfast is one of many events and organizing meetings we’ve planned in the hopes of bringing Taoseños into the democratic process. I am excited about working with Chairman Colón and the DPNM as there is a lot of energy to harness and we want to make sure Taos County is leading the charge for Democratic candidates”.

Tafoya and Colón co-hosted the Chairmen’s breakfast and they recognized the accomplishments of former and present Party officers as well as activists and community members.
