Dear Democrat:

The Primary is over, and we are gearing up for the General Election.  We are your local Democratic Party, and like other organizations, we too are suffering from the effects of the downturn in the economy.  We are contacting our most loyal supporters, because we are struggling to deliver the same level of services that have produced Democratic victories in the past.  However, we will NOT ask you to attend another fundraising event this Fall.  Instead, we are asking you to donate to the Capital Campaign to support our outreach efforts in Montgomery County.

We have a Large Puzzle of Activities to Complete

We have an immediate need for resources to support an Early Voting program.  As you know, this election marks the very first time Maryland voters can experience the ease and convenience of early voting. Early voting has proven to substantially boost Democratic Get Out the Vote drives in other states, but only with a concerted campaign. Of course this requires the sometimes staggering expenses of marketing materials, informational advertising and special GOTV activities, but we believe the rewards in turn-out will be worth the cost.

In addition, we need assistance to communicate with our new Democratic voters and to reach out to those who choose to cast an absentee ballot.

Our 2010 Capital Campaign Goal

Our goal is to raise $20,000 before October 30 to fund a successful election for Montgomery County Democrats.  We have taken a look at the pieces that make-up the puzzle, and we have done the math.  Our conclusion is that we need your assistance.  When you consider the ferociousness of the campaigns that are about to be waged against Democrats, it is obvious that we must close the communications gap; resources are crucial for the Democratic Party to carry out an aggressive campaign.

We will Send Your Piece of the Puzzle to You

You can be instrumental in closing this gap for the local Democratic Party.  We are inviting you to help us complete the puzzle by donating $50 or more.  As a donor, you will be sent your piece of the puzzle with a note regarding how you helped us to close the gap and where your contribution is being directed (early voting, absentee voters etc.). All donors will be honored in our monthly Montgomery Democrat newsletter by having your names affixed to a piece of the puzzle. You are totally welcome to donate more than $50; however, just $50 from 400 Democrats will help us to reach our goal and conduct the best campaign in the local Party’s history.

Background about the Local Democratic Party

The Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee is the governing body of the Democratic Party in Montgomery County.  The Party is responsible for staffing the headquarters office in Kensington, Maryland, registering voters and running a precinct organization of over 400 volunteers.  The Party is also tasked with get-out-the-vote activities, such as rides-to-the-polls and organizing the volunteers that knock on over 200,000 doors to generate Democratic turnout on Election Day

We are calling on you to help us to run a winning campaign in Montgomery County.  Will you help us to fill the gap and complete the puzzle?

Sincerely,

Simon Atlas
