JINDAL SPINELESS AGAINST PARTISAN PRESSURE

Chooses to Skip SCHIP Veto Override Vote to

Stay In Line With Bush and Republican Party

BATON ROUGE – Bobby Jindal has lied to the people of Louisiana once again by turning his back on the state’s uninsured children and can’t be trusted to be governor, according to Louisiana Democratic Party Chairman Chris Whittington.

“Jindal made no effort to be in Washington for the House vote Thursday even though he has said publicly several times he was against Bush’s veto and supported SCHIP. “He’s missed 150 votes since August – no one really expected him to change now,” Whittington said.

“Clearly he wanted the good press for going against Bush, but was spineless when it came to casting the vote when it really mattered,” Whittington said.

The next question is will Jindal stay true to form and skip the last debate set for 6 p.m. tonight?

“If Jindal shows, he’ll have to defend his reason for skipping the vote after telling voters he would choose the children of Louisiana over Bush. He can’t use the excuse of timing. Jindal has been jetting across the state in a private plane for months and could have used it to be back in time. It’s clear where his loyalty and priorities are – and it’s not with the people of Louisiana. We deserve a man with courage to be the next leader of Louisiana, not a coward,” Whittington said.
