ORLEANS PARISH DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE ENDORSES FOSTER CAMPBELL
NEW
ORLEANS--The Orleans Parish Democratic
Executive Committee endorsed Foster Campbell
for governor Friday night for the gubernatorial
election on October
20.
“After
presentations by both Foster and Walter Boasso,
our members voted overwhelmingly to support
Foster, based on his strong leadership,
principles and interest in the working men and
women of the New Orleans area and all of
Louisiana,” said Stephanie Butler, chairwoman
of the
committee.
She
said Campbell’s record as a state senator and
as a member of the Public Service Commission
demonstrates his commitment to improving the
quality of life for all
Louisianians.
“I’m thrilled to win the endorsement of the
Democratic Executive Committee,” Campbell said.
“This demonstrates that my plan to eliminate
the income tax and provide new revenue for
education, healthcare, economic development and
New Orleans recovery is resonating throughout
this state.”
Campbell said the endorsement is particularly
significant because it comes in the back yard
of Boasso.
Boasso, it was pointed out in Thursday night’s
gubernatorial debate, is a recent switcher to
the Democratic Party, voted against an increase
in the minimum wage and amassed a senatorial
voting record very favorable to big business
interests in Louisiana.
