COORDINATED CAMPAIGN REGIONAL FIELD DIRECTOR

The Louisiana Democratic Party is recruiting for Coordinated Campaign Regional Field Directors to work out of one of the following locations: New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Houma, Shreveport, Monroe, and Alexandria. 

Regional Field Directors will supervise the activities of the local Field Organizers as they represent the Democratic Party and assist Democratic candidates at regional and local events, run field campaign efforts, organize voter registration drives and absentee ballot campaigns, and mobilize voter turnout, including get-out-the-vote efforts and election day voting efforts. 

The positions will be hired and supervised by the Director of the Louisiana Coordinated Campaign and the Field Director. 

Qualifications

Applicants: 

  1. Need to be experienced in working with a wide diversity of people with varied political interests. 
  2. Must have strong social skills and enjoy working with people. 
  3. Must be able and willing to manage full-time professional staffers 
  4. Must have extensive experience in conducting a political campaign or experience in community organizing. 
  5. Must have an in-depth understanding of Democratic Party issues and be able to effectively communicate information to candidates and the public. 
  6. Must have a vehicle and be willing to travel and work long hours. 
  7. Must be able to work through November 7, 2008. 

Duties: 

  1. Supervise, assist, and manage the activities of the regional Field Organizers. 
  2. Oversee the successful completion of voter contact and turnout goals for a wide region of the state. 
  3. Act as the local point person for local Central Committees, candidates and elected officials. 
  4. Recruit and organize volunteers to find locations for and put up yard signs, conduct literature drops, help with phone banks, identify voters, conduct mailings, and assist with other campaign events.  Field organizers will be responsible for recruiting volunteers in their field area. 
  5. Identify state, regional, and local campaign opportunities (events or meetings candidates, staff or volunteers should attend) and communicate that information to appropriate persons. 
  6. Become familiar with local communities throughout the assigned geographical area, to advise candidates and staff on issues affecting the communities and activities conducted by local organizations. 
  7. Effectively communicate the message of Democratic Party candidates in the field, including assisting in direct mail drives, literature drops, press conferences, and other events. 
  8. Monitor local press coverage of statewide races. 
  9. Oversee voter turnout, including organize voter registration drives, absentee ballot campaigns, and get-out-the-vote and election day voting efforts. 

Salary and Benefits:

  6. Must have a vehicle (mileage reimbursed) and be willing to travel and work long hours. 
  7. Must be able to work through November 4, 2008.
