Discrimination

Currently, there are no federal or state law that prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.  Terminating someone (or denying credit, housing, service) because of their sexual orientation is perfectly legal, though the cities of Covington, Lexington, and Louisville have municipal laws that prohibit such acts.

The term "gender identity," distinct from the term "sexual orientation," refers to a person’s innate, deeply felt psychological identification as male or female.

Kentucky Equality Federation would like the Commonwealth to bar discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in employment, housing public accommodations, insurance coverage, and credit.
