In recent years, some lawmakers have proposed legislation to prohibit same-sex couples from adopting children or serving as foster parents. Thankfully, this legislation has been defeated in the Kentucky House of Representatives.
Conservatives are still trying to gather support in order to pass such a bill in the House. Kentucky Equality Federation would like the Kentucky legislature to pass a bill to prohibit discrimination in child custody, adoption, and serving as foster parents.
Adoption: Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender parents have some of the most planned for children in the world. Our babies, after all, are never (or rarely) begotten by whim, accident or even a conscious decision to skip the birth control.
Custody: One of the most frightening things a parent can face is the possibility of losing custody of a child. But for gay and lesbian parents, custody disputes can be an especially great concern.

Insemination: When a woman thinks
about having a child, she naturally expects
that she will be the one bearing the child. But
if she has fallen in love with another woman,
she may have to think twice.
Foster Parenting: Every night in America, nearly half a million children go to bed in foster care. They have been removed from homes broken by death, divorce, drugs, alcohol, physical or sexual abuse, illness or financial hardship.
