Can one persons voice really make a difference? The answer is yes! This year the Kentucky legislature has taken up a few bills that would take several steps backwards in obtaining LGBT equality in Kentucky.
I don’t know how to Lobby! Don't worry! Someone will be available to "train" you, and speak to your elected official with you!
We will be meeting in Room 470 in the Capitol Annex at 9:00 AM.
You don’t need to know how to lobby as long as you know how to talk. The fact is that while you can have organization speak on your behalf and lobby for you, it is not as nearly effective as having someone from the congress persons district lobbying them instead.

General Rules for Effective
Lobbying
I am not into
politics! Are you into having your
rights and equality? We as a community in
Kentucky have sat on the sidelines for far too
long. We allowed an amendment to be added to
the KY constitution, forbidding us marriage and
civil unions. Can we really afford not to go
and make sure are voices are heard?
Finally, its is time for all of us who believe in a fair and equal Kentucky to go to the Capitol and tell everyone you meet that all we want is: Equality and Fairness. No More, No Less.
We need your support as
the opposition has the voices and numbers that
we fail to get to the capitol. The sad truth is
the opposition is the minority, but have been
able to drum up enough voice in the capitol to
seem like the majority. Lets make a difference
this year; stop complaining and start
doing!
Together,
we can accomplish our long-term goals!
We are only asking for
protection from discrimination based on sexual
orientation or gender identity, the freedom of
knowing someone cannot legally discriminate
against us.
We are only asking for
social equality through exposure,
communication, and education, so that laws may
finally be enacted to legally validate our
relationships.
Show your support by
standing united with Kentucky Equality
Federation, Bluegrass Fairness of Central
Kentucky, and Louisville's Fairness
Campaign!
Your presence will make a real
difference in the fight for equality and
fairness for LGBT
Kentuckians!
What's at stake?
- House Bill 118, the Healthcare Inequality Bill. Public universities and other government agencies would not be allowed to offer health insurance to the unmarried domestic partners of their employees should this bill become law.
- House Bill 33. This bill would allow anyone 18 and older to designate a non-blood relative as having hospital room access (such as a same-sex partner).
- Senate Bill 55, the non-discrimination bill. Senator Ernesto Scorsone had filed Senate Bill 55 to "to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity."
