Protect our youth! Support House Bill 64 without amendments!

As a citizen, registered voter, and member of Kentucky Equality Federation, a union of more than 6,500 individuals, corporations, groups, and associations across the commonwealth I URGE you to support House Bill 64, the School Bullying Bill, without amendments. Of the commonwealth's 250 schools, 80% have reported bullying problems, according to education offices. This bill has major support from our educators, and I believe the legislature must submit to their judgment since they are the ones on the front-line. We must give our teachers what they need to succeed! The amendments filed are unacceptable to me; whether anyone agrees with it or not, homosexuals fill our commonwealth, and we have an obligation to protect all of our youth. One of the principal goals of the Kentucky Education Reform Act was for "Students to apply concepts and principles from mathematics, the sciences, the arts, the humanities, social studies, practical living studies, and vocational studies to what they will encounter throughout their lives." Our youth will be in schools with homosexuals and most definitely encounter them throughout their life; they need to understand that though they may be different, we tolerate them, are friends with them, and do not bully or make fun of them.
