Salary/Insurance: $15,646/year +
$1,700 for office + housing/transportation
during session.
Insurance coverage is the same as for full-time
employees ($30/month payment).

Election scheduling: Primary on 3rd Tuesday of May; General on 1st Tuesday after 1st Monday in November. Pre-registration for voters closes on April 20 and Oct. 12; after those dates, voters may register and vote at the same time at the Canyon County Elections office (11th and Chicago) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays or at their polling places on Election Day. Filing dates: Monday, Feb. 27, to Friday, March 9, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Office of the Secretary of State, Room E 205, State Capitol Building, Boise. Write-in candidates must file a declaration of intent by March 30 (primary) and October 9 (general).
Filing requirements: Declaration of candidacy (including name of campaign treasurer) with 50 signatures (or $30). Candidates must be 21 years of age or older and have lived in their district for one year prior to the November election.
Financial reports: Idaho Sunshine Law requires that candidates certify the name of their treasurer before accepting any donations or making any expenditures. Financial reports are filed numerous times through the year. For forms and a calendar visit

Note: Because of reapportionment several seats will be "open" this year, i.e. having no incumbents running--10B, 12S, 12B, 13A.
