UPDATED: IRAQ WAR VETERAN ANNOUNCED IOWA ROLL CALL VOTE AT CONVENTION

Denver, CO – This afternoon, 24-year-old Jacob Krapfl, a veteran of the Iraq War and a native of New Vienna, Iowa, announced the Iowa roll call vote at approximately 4:15pm MT / 5:15pm MT on the floor of Democratic National Convention in Denver. Krapfl is an Obama delegate attending his first convention and wore his combat boots to honor his fellow troops.
“Like signing up for the Army, I felt being a delegate and supporting Barack Obama during this historic convention was something I had to do,” said Krapfl, who was unable to vote in 2004 because he was training and preparing for his second tour of duty in Iraq at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. “Washington needs a new direction and a renewed focus on our veterans returning from overseas. I was honored to be chosen to announce the Iowa roll call from the convention floor and I look forward to doing everything I can to ensure an Obama victory come November.”
Scott Brennan, Chair of the Iowa delegation and Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party designated Jacob for the honor of announcing Iowa’s roll call votes for the Democratic nomination.
“Jacob is a great example of the sort of Iowan who has been so energized by Senator Obama’s campaign,” said Brennan. “Jacob served his country with honor and I am proud that he was the voice of the Iowa delegation.”
Jacob is a full-time student at Loras College and participated for the first time in the caucus in January supporting Senator Obama. He was elected as a delegate at the 1st Congressional District convention in April.
