Pawlenty and Latham Support McCain’s Billion Dollar Tax Cut for Exxon Mobil?
Saturday, August 2, 2008
Ames, IA – Today, Minnesota Governor Tim
Pawlenty, a potential Republican
vice-presidential candidate, will be visiting
Iowa in support of Senator John McCain.
Pawlenty will be joined by Congressman Tom
Latham at a McCain office opening in
Ames.
Iowans are curious how Pawlenty
and Latham feel about John McCain’s opposition
to ethanol and his proposal to give tax cuts to
oil companies already making record
profits.
“John McCain wants to slash
investment in homegrown Iowa biofuels and then
give $1.2 billion in tax cuts to Exxon Mobil,”
said Richard Machacek, a farmer from Winthrop.
“Are Tim Pawlenty and Tom Latham really
supportive of a candidate that wants to give
tax breaks to oil companies making record
profits, and at the same time, cut investment
in renewable Iowa biofuels? Iowans faced with
record gas prices deserve to hear from Pawlenty
and Latham on why John McCain thinks handing
over a billion dollars in tax cuts to Exxon
Mobil is fair to Iowa
taxpayers.”
