Boswell now "Dean" of delegation
Saturday, January 13, 2007
(Radio Iowa)Congressman Leonard Boswell went from being the
only democratic congressman from Iowa to being
one of three as two newcomers were recently
sworn in. Boswell says he's done as much as he
can to help freshman Dave Loebsack and Bruce
Braley get settled in
Washington.
Boswell says, for fun, he
calls himself the "Dean" and will stay that
until they vote him out. He says his staff is
helping out the two newcomers as much as he
can. Boswell says it's nice to see some fellow
democrats in the delegation. Boswell says
Braley and Loebsack will bring some fresh ideas
and enthusiasm, and he looks forward to meeting
with them and talking with them and working as
a team for the state and
country.
Boswell says he remembers how
busy it is for a new congressman, and says it's
a challenge. Boswell says just to get set up
and get going is a struggle at first, but it
all works out. Boswell says the two will be
relieved once they get all the staff hired,
phones hooked up and computers running. Boswell
is excited about now being the majority party
of the House.
Boswell says, "I can just
tell you this, it already feels good." Boswell
says his party has a lot of responsibility and
some "heavy lifting to do." Boswell represents
the third district.
