Boswell Meets With Soldiers At Walter Reed

Friday, March 9, 2007

(KCCI-TV)DES MOINES, Iowa -- Congressional hearings put the spotlight on squalid conditions in a section of Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Defense officials are defending the care given to veterans. On Friday, Iowa U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell met with soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center.

Boswell said the soldiers he spoke with were well taken care of and in safe conditions.

"Yes, they went in and cleaned up the rooms where they had, you know, walls with the mold and they had leaks. Those things have been taken care of," Boswell said.

Boswell said that service members have been removed from the building that received the most criticism as it is being renovated.
