(February 20, 2008) - Today, Ed Fallon, Democratic candidate for the Third Congressional District, is discussing his positions on global climate change at four town hall meetings in Des Moines, Grinnell, Oskaloosa and Pella.
To kick off the day’s events,
Fallon will hold a town hall meeting/press
conference on a public bus parked at the DART
transit mall in Des Moines. Fallon
will travel to the event from his home on foot
as a demonstration of his personal commitment
to reducing his carbon footprint. Later,
Fallon will visit Grinnell College, William
Penn College in Oskaloosa and Central College
in Pella.
Fallon has a strong record on
environmental issues. He served on the House
Environmental Protection Committee all of his
14 years at the Statehouse and was appointed to
the Iowa Climate Change Advisory Council by
Governor Culver.
Fallon says, “One reason I’m
running is because my opponent, Leonard
Boswell, has a voting record that fails to
address the climate change crisis. He has
a record of voting for continued reliance on
fossil fuels, taxpayer subsidies for oil and
gas companies and opposition to higher CAFE
standards.”
Fallon believes we need immediate
global, national, local and personal action on
what may be the pivotal issue of our time. He
says, “I’m ready to do what I can to see that
environmental issues and climate change are
taken seriously inside the
beltway.”
“I am very interested in
hearing the public's thoughts on global climate
change,” says Fallon. “It’s critical that we have
an open and straightforward dialogue about this
and other critical issues facing our nation,”
he said.
