Democrats Recognized for Outstanding Volunteer Work at Belle Everett Fundraiser

Thanks and appreciation goes out to the many who made the 2006 and 2007 elections a success for Kent County Democrats.

FELTON, DE — Democrats crowded the Felton Fire Hall Monday night for the annual Belle Everett Fundraiser, the biggest event of the year for the Kent County Democrats. We hope to build on the momentum we've achieved through the many successes in the past year and a half, which include helping Rep. Bob Walls reclaim the 33 rd Representative District seat for the Democrats; gaining a strong majority in Levy Court; and Bruce Ennis' recent victory in the 14th Senate District race.

"Party volunteers contributed in a large way to many of these accomplishments," said Kent County Democratic Party Chair Abby Betts. "From knocking on doors to making phone calls for the party and its candidates, without their hard work and dedication, running successful elections would be nearly impossible."

After taking time to recognize the party's loyal volunteers, Betts urged them to spring into action once again to help out an encouraging group of energetic candidates running in 2008 with a clear vision for Kent County and Delaware.  However, she noted, candidate Bill Carson, who's running in the December 8th special election to replace Bruce Ennis, needs volunteers even earlier than next year. "Don't you leave here tonight without signing up to help the campaign," Betts said only half-joking.

State Treasurer, Jack Markell emceed the event which also featured speeches from Gov. Ruth Ann Minner, Sen. Tom Carper, Lt. Governor John Carney, and Insurance Commissioner Matt Denn.
