Spivack Presents Plans for Energy Independence

NEWARK, Del. – Today at a press conference at White Clay Creek State park outside of Newark, Dennis Spivack laid out his plans for a new direction in the country’s energy policy, one that will strive to end our reliance upon foreign oil.

“It is becoming increasingly apparent that global warming is a real and immediate threat facing not only our country, but the entire world. We need to encourage oil companies, who are raking in record profits, to reinvest a substantial portion of those profits into developing effective alternative sources of fuel, and transferring themselves from “oil” companies into “energy” companies” Spivack said.

In reference to the heated debate over sprawl in the state, Spivack said, “I support working with the state government to secure livable, ‘Smart Growth’ initiatives, especially in Kent and Sussex Counties. In Sussex, that includes providing better East-West transportation, increased public transit to bring workers from already populated areas in the north down south to work, and finally the creation of a Beach Replenishment Trust Fund so that our beaches can maintain their splendor year after year.”
