Carney: State Working to Keep Chrysler Open
Tuesday, November 14, 2006(WILM)
Carney says Delaware officials are working behind the scenes to keep the Daimler-Chrysler auto plant a viable business in Delaware. Carney says, an on-going dialogue between state officials and corporation executives has been helpful. "They appreciate very much the ongoing communication that has occurred over the last number of years and particularly, Governor Minner's visit to Detroit last spring, which they identified for the first time, some of the cost issues that they were really looking at-- worker's comp reform, asbestos, litigation reform." Carney made his remarks Tuesday, before members of the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce. He adds, education will play an important role in the future financial health of Delaware's businesses.
