Stamp Out Hunger 2008- On Saturday, May 10 the National Association of Letter Carriers will conduct its annual Stamp Out Hunger Day. To help, simply place a bag of non-perishable food items, such as soup, canned meats and fish, pasta or cereal, next to your mailbox before your mail delivery. Your letter carrier will do the rest! Locally, the items will be donated to the Food Bank of Delaware. Help Stamp Out Hunger May 10th!
Wilmington Drama League- The Wilmington Drama League presents Pillow Plays, produced by Chrysalis, the youth theater program. The plays are intended for an audience 10 and younger, who are invited to bring a pillow or stuffed animal with them for the show. The next show is "The Frog Prince" May 3 at 10am & 2pm at the League, 10 West Lea Blvd...May 4 at 2 & 4pm at the Newark Library, 750 Library Ave...and May 10 at 2pm at the Woodlawn Library. Giving Care/Taking Care Caregiver Skills Program- Giving Care/Taking Care is a FREE workshop program on how to care for older adults at home. It is especially for family caregivers who want to enhance their skills and abilities to provide care, and learn about resources and services that might make their tasks a little easier. The program will take place Wednesday, May 14, 10am to 3pm, at Christiana Presbyterian Church, 1100 Church Road, Newark. American Cancer Society- Relay for Life is an event held every year, sponsored by the American Cancer Society and money raised is used for cancer research and patient support. Glasgow Lions Club- On May 16 from 5-9pm and May 17 from 10am to 4pm, volunteers from the Glasgow Lions Club will be at Peoples Plaza, Routes 40 & 896 in Glasgow, for "Recycle for Sight." Nemours Health and Prevention Services- Nemours Health and Prevention Services is holding the "Run 1 4 Fun" one mile run/walk, Saturday, May 17, 11am to 2pm, along the Wilmington Riverfront. The One Mile Run/Walk is for children and families and will include games, art table, healthy refreshments, activities, music, giveaways, and prizes. Every child will receive a t-shirt and medal.
