The mission of Physicians for
a Democratic Majority is to:
1. Help elect a 60-vote, filibuster-proof Democratic majority in the Senate, enlarge our majority in the House, and help our 2008 Presidential nominee win the White House!
2. Provide campaign volunteers and financial and policy support for candidates who advocate universal access to healthcare as a top domestic priority.
3. Build relationships with the Democratic Party leadership, winning recognition for Democratic physicians as leaders in healthcare policy and vital members of the Democratic coalition.
4. Train and encourage medical students to be political activists, advocates for healthcare, and the next generation of physician leaders.
Physicians for a Democratic Majority -- the DemDocs -- is the nation's largest political action committee for Democratic and progressive physicians and their allies. We are dedicated to electing Democrats to the House, Senate and White House, and promoting legislation to expand successful government health programs and make healthcare services available to ALL Americans, not just those with good jobs or successful parents.
The DemDocs are proud to have helped substantially in the fight to elect a Democratic majority to Congress, sending over 250 student volunteers to work in 20 races across the United States in 2004, and doing it again in the 2006 midterm elections, where our volunteers helped elect several new members of Congress and make Nancy Pelosi the Speaker of the House.
Between elections, we provide early "seed money" for progressive physicians running for Congress, like Dr. Steve Kagan in Wisconsin and Dr. Victoria Wulsin in Ohio. We also contribute to Democrats in tough races whose seats are critical in retaining and enlarging our Democratic majority, as well as campaigning in Presidential swing states. If you can help with time, ideas, or financial contributions, please contact us!
