Orange County Grassroots Newsletter
Get Ready to Vote for Steve Young for Congress!
Voting to replace Chris Cox for Congressional District 48 in
Orange County will begin on September 25th! Yes, it's only a
few short weeks away, and the focus on New Orleans has been
so intense, most of our neighbors don't even know there is
going to be an election.
What they don't know could hurt them, and the debacle in
New Orleans and the Gulf makes that clear. We need a
Representative in Washington who understands that
homeland security actually begins at home! And that means
necessary repairs and modernization of our infrastructure,
government run by competent experts rather than political
cronies, and tax funds directed toward the betterment of our
citizens rather than toward providing golden parachutes for
greedy executives out to fleece both their customers and
their employees.
We plan to pull off a big victory for a
Democrat -- Steve Young -- in the early October primary.
Then the eyes of the nation will be on the final election in
early December. We need you, and we need you to be sure
that your neighbors get out and vote for Steve Young!

Pizza and Signs Friday September 9th
All we need is you!
Steve Young's signs have arrived! If you are tired of looking
at the Republican signs sprouting throughout the county,
come with friends and family to help assemble yard signs and
join an enthusiastic group of volunteers for pizza. Or, you can
just drop by Steve's campaign office and pick up some finished
signs to distribute in your neighborhood.
Date and time: Friday, September 9, 5 pm
Location: 101 Pacifica #240, Irvine, 92618-7343.
That's in the
Irvine Spectrum area, off Alton and very near both the 5 and
405 freeways.
Katrina Benefit and Meetup Tuesday, September 13
Meet Steve Young
Tia Juana's in Irvine is donating its private room on Tuesday so
we can raise some money for Katrina victims. We'll talk about
ways we may be able to provide some on-going support for
evacuees, especially those who are ending up in the Southland.
Steve Young, candidate to take over Chris Cox's seat in
Congress, will speak about his ideas on what the government
needs to do to help prevent such tragic results in future
natural disasters.
We'll also be showing a brief film
provided by The MMOB that features Cindy Sheehan speaking
about the Opt Out program for school kids, and let you know
how you can help.
Voting Starts Soon
Are you registered? Want to vote early?
Yes, we are being inundated with elections this fall, but it's vital
that Democrats, as well as others who are disgusted with the
performance of the current administration, vote in every one of
them! Make it easy on yourself. Vote absentee, or vote early.
Because clueless officials scheduled the October primary
election for the Cox seat in Congress right at the start of
TWO major religious holy periods, early voting is being set
up in seven locations around the county. You can vote in
three different city halls beginning September 26th, and in
four synagogues beginning September 25th.
